11:10 am - Back at home
Well, I'm back to Milano after a 5 days vacation to Amsterdam.
It was an interesting trip (and funny and relaxing), I could describe it in detail but Zoë described it in detail on her journal and as I'm a lazy bastard I'm simply posting the link to her hournal.

We found a big American Bookstore and I bought the 2 Max Brook's books on zombies: "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War".
Both are interesting and funy books, for a geeky nerd as I am :-P

11:28 pm - Star Trek
Ok, my trip will be a little shorter :-P
Tomorrow I will fly to Frankfurt for a few day as the company I'm working for is present at Ambiente.
It's a big and important fair, so I will be there with a collegue, contacting clients and other interesting (not so much) stuff.

Can't wait to be back :-D

Current Location: Milano for a few hours and then Frankfurt

03:18 pm - Saga of Ryzom
This week too I played a lot Saga of Ryzom.
It's the only MMORPG I ever found interesting and having so much free time gave me the opportunity to explore it more in depht.
I enjoy not only the fighting (only against animals or monsters, you have to accept PvP) but also the harvesting and the crafting. All thse activities really help to develop a character, not only a figthing machine. My character, Morazi, is a crafter so hunting and harvesting are necessary to find materials to use to craft armours, jewels, weapons.
I had also to learn how to team to defeat a "Dominant Kirosta", a big bug wich killed me 3 times before I was able to defeat it with a high level healer supporting me.
Now I'm ready to leave the training island and to to go in the bigger world.

So I think me rerview for this game is very positive.

01:11 pm - Still sick, but...
I've found a way to survive being at home all the day during the holydays.
This way is Saga of Ryzom, the first and only MMORPG I ever played. It's not only about combat but more about developing your character and its interaction with the environment. Pity it runs only on Windows and on Linux, so my old Mac is out.
I have to steal wifey's PCfor that, but luckily Second Life can run on this old G4 (even if it's slow).
So, in these last couple of days I played 10 and more hours and I'm more and more mpressed by the game.
Animals have migration patterns, when you kill too many of them in an area, they will simply disappears until a new migration bring new ones, grass and meat eaters have complex and different ways to move and interact. Predators kill other animals, they don't attack players only and many of them have a pack way to attack.

Very interesting and PvP is the less important part of the game, cooperation is encouraged but solo playing is possible and rewarding.
I hope to have more news later.

11:13 am - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - cough cough
Friday I came home not feeling too well and in a couple of hours I had a BIG fever.
Now, 4 days later, I'm still not feeling too well, what a LOUSY way to start and pass my holydays!

For now it's all.

PS: Merry Christmas and Happy NewYear to everyone!

02:27 pm - Weekly update? Yes!
Ok, I'm more surprised than my eventual readers, a weekly update is a first for me.

But what to tak about?
Well, first there is the meltdown of Internet Infidels, or IIDB, a board for atheists and agnostics (but not only). After a couple of months of infighting in the last couple of day there it was a "normalization". The Board and the Administrators started a banning campaign and some new rules to drive out all dissent. It's a pity that such a beautiful board and informative board has to die (for me at least) for a few assholes. I'm also sad because so many of the past administators resigned in these weeks and I was used to respect Mediancat , the only one remaining (but there are new recruits), right now I can't respect him anymore.
He signed some very offensive policies and so I'm trying to find new hangouts.

On the wargaming front I have to decide how to develop my Undead army. David McBride (of Splintered Light miniatures) put out new miniatures (as skeleton centaurs) and I think I will have to order more of them. MANY MORE!

I think next time I will start translating some of my notes about the fantasy world I'm creating for my fantasy rules.

To the next week.

07:03 pm - I'm back, I'm baaaaack
Yep, i'm back.
Let's see how much this new determination will last :-P

First of all the news:
• Zoë is writing A LOT!
• I have a new job, as advertising representative for foreign countris, for the publisher of glass industry magazines and next year I will have to travel to Germany, Russia, China, Mexico, Brazil, USA and Germanìy again.
• I started painting AGAIN! WOW!
• Ten days I had my first game with miniatures in two years.
• I'm still writing my fantasy wargame rules.
• I think I'm in love with Zoë even more than when we married two years ago.

Ok, for the next entries I will try to write something about these rules I'm writing or, at least, about the fantasy world I have in mind. Nothing original, it's only a background for all the miniatures (10, 15, 25 or 28 mm) know.

Today I'm pleased to present you the walking dead

Swords and Wraiths

Wraiths and Commanders

Wraiths led by a Spectre

Liche raising an undead Dragon

Kelts attacking an undead Dragon

Spears and Cavalry

Spears advancing

Archers on the hills

Ork attack!

I hope you, my (few) readers like these pics.

11:34 am - Another update? WOW!
Yep, I know, I'm maybe the laziest livejournaler ever :p

Ok why I'm writing now? Maybe because I hope it helps me to concentrate on what I have to do.

Right now things aren't bad, ok my job sucks (for the money at least) and Zoë's health isn't very good (but I knew about it), but I'm trying to earn more with a second job (or a better one) and next month Zoë will have her first medical test in the Italian Health Care system, so, at least, things are moving.

I'm also trying to start again doing something in my hobby, wargame (painting and gaming with little miniature soldiers, very mature hobby :) ). I've lots of miniature to paint and I should start writing the fantasy miniature rules I had in my mind for some years.
Writing down them will help me to realize if they are any good or only another "wrong" project. The main thing is I decided these rules should comprise also campaign and naval system. A big project indeed.
If I will be able to mantain my focus I should finish them next year, after some playtesting.

That's all, for now.

PS: I'm not talking about politics only because right now I'm quite angry with politicians for lots of different reasons, I'm only hoping our new govern will sucks a little less then the previous one (which should have some kind of record for ass-suckiness).

07:40 pm - Just married
I’m not updating this journal very often, almost never to be sincere, but today I have to:
Zoë was really lovable and so stunning people couldn’t believe she was marrying me :-p

This wedding is the start of a new, exciting phase of my life, maybe not easy but sure exciting.

Wish me good luck

01:03 am - Auguri!
A year ago I posted this on Madison Ave. Forums:

Buon Natale
Merry Christmas/Channukah/Kwanzaa
Happy Saturnalia/Winter Solstice
I hope Santa/Baby Jesus/St. Lucy/Dad&Mom/[Insert your choice] will bring you health and happiness.
I’m not a christian any more (not in the last 27 years) but to me this day it’s about remember to my parents and friends how much I love them.
So I send you all a big hug and a kiss, only virtual, unfortunately.
Ok JMcG, it’s Xmas so a kiss to you too

This year was full of events, the biggest is my lovely fiancee Zoë is living with me and everything started a week after this message, 31 december, when we admitted to be in love.

I hope for everyone a 2005 full of changes and happiness.

PS: I know I’m being lazy with my Live Journal but I have to share my internet connection with Zoë and she’s an addict :-p
